Clarion West Write-A-Thon day 1

For the next six weeks, I’m participating in the Clarion West Write-A-Thon. My commitment is 250 words a day, which I will be attempting to maintain through fire, floods, conventions, travel, and boyfriend. Because of these challenges, I will be writing longhand for the time being, in a notebook with a pen, the way our ancestors did it.

This is a charity fundraiser to support the Clarion West Writer’s Workshop, and you can pledge to support it (and my efforts!) here.

The story I am working on is due July 15. I think I’m off to a good start.

The notebook:

2012-06-17 08.03.29

Fear of a blank page:

2012-06-17 07.58.38

Victory!:

2012-06-17 08.31.21

I got three handwritten pages, which should be about 500 words when it’s typed up. If I can maintain this pace, life is good. But somehow I suspect that come 4th Street and CONvergence and Readercon, things are going to get a little… hairier.
