We work. We run. We live.

Climbed last night, and feel pretty good about it–and ran this morning, and feel even better about that. The climbing was at the more technical of the two gyms I frequent, and I got up a 5.9 pretty easily and the first third of a 5.10b. I will come back to that one–and it won’t be the penultimate climb of the night.

This morning’s run was my new benchmark for length and speed–9.7 miles at an average rate of 10:37/mile. I am competing in a Virtual 10K on the Sparkpeople website, and so far I am seventh in my age/gender category. I feel pretty good about that.

Apparently the long rest did me good… though I still need to ice my ankle.

I had another really good writing day yesterday, with the result that if I can get 3K today (strenuous, but not undoable) I can take a three-day weekend. Not that my weekends are really devoid of work… but it’s nice to take time off the novel. I think it brings me back fresher and more ready to make work happen than if I try, as I used to, to grind out words every day.

I also have a short story I need to get written. I will be over here contemplating my schedule and trying to stop keening long enough to Ommmmmmm.

Tea today: Upton tea’s delicious Rose Congou, which is a lightly fermented black tea with rose petals in. Yummy.

Teacup today: Darkover Grand Council 33. Darkover is a lovely medium-sized con near Baltimore, where I was privileged to be GoH two years ago. It’s Thanksgiving weekend, and pre-registration is still open for another week. I *highly* recommend it. They had a sock hop, the year I went. And awesomeness.

And now it’s time to write like the wind.

  1. WOL Says:

Nice little carafe. Dried plums? or apricots?

  2. matociquala Says:

Thermal carafe, best way to keep a pot of tea hot and unstewed for a few hours. (I strain the leaves out when I pour it in.)

Dried apricots and cherries. Leftover from my run–they’re my answer to overpriced corn syrup “energy gels.”
